Well I think the khazarian meme is funny but I don't think it is true. The khazars did officially convert to Judaism for reasons of experience, but they weren't serious about it and their interest in Judaism did not outlive their little kingdom. Dna evidence seems to suggest that if they have any genetic presence in modern jews then it is minimal. The dna evidence suggests that the modern jew is in fact connected to the people who subverted the canaanites and were involved in writing the old testament...and in fact the old testament (and their civilizational history)is a good window in jewish mentality and methods. In fact, I think the old testament is correct when it suggests jews left Egypt and conquered the semites...I just don't think they were jews before they left Egypt (indeed Egyptian scribes themsrlves mention all people except jews).
