I am posting in the Conservative section but I really am a Moderate. In today's political world we Moderates have, by comparison the the liberals, have been moved further to the right. So that's the way it is.
Here is what I want to know.
There is traditional American Democratic party practice and history and then there is the more current move by this body, to the far left of the socila spectrum. This is not any mystery. The acceptance of globalism when it is clear that any choice in the matter is denied us is a dangerous situation. Has anyone been asked if they want to be subjected to the rule of a single global suthority? Not me.
It is impossile to discover what motivates a liberal now a days. Every time I ask one, even when they are in my family, why they believe as they do the immediately clam up and refuse to speak, to discuss anypart of the idea and, if pressed, will then rise to anger. What for? Why all the avoidance? Are we being subjected to some kind of mass hypnosis or something? Why, when they are asked to discuss their positions, do liberals start in with the name calling? Are there any liberals on this forum who are willing to explain to me why having pornography in our grade schools promulgated by cross dressing perverts is a good or beneficial idea? But they refuse and want, immediately, to call security and have the questioner thrown out.
I want a liberal to explain to me why the perversion of our kids is right and proper. I believe I'm waiting for an answer that will never come. I'll just called a name or three
I'm firmly convinced that things like extreme economic inequality, too much corporate power, and systemic racism all undermine individual freedom in our current political economy. I don't want Socialism, and I don't think racism explains all problems faced by Black people. But the kind of Capitalism we have now is working against ordinary working people.
At the time despite significant progress made subtle implicit racism through otherwise neutral actions at various levels of society deprives Black people of rights, opportunities, and material well-being. I think we need a bigger and more ambitious Liberal reformist politics to address these problems.
When it comes to Abortion I'm pro choice. Moreover I think we need to do more about the gender pay gap, sexual harassment in the workplace, and poverty among female headed families. The reason Right leaning Republicans were able to overturn Roe is because Democrats especially Liberals became complacent about Gender Equality.
LGBTQ Rights are unfinished business. We need a basic Civil Rights law at the national level. When it comes to Transgender people in particular Liberals and other reasonable people of good will should rightly oppose some radical ideas of Gender Ideology like throwing away the gender binary or denying the biological relationship between sex and gender. We may even think it's not good allow Transwomen to compete in Women's sports. But ensuring basic Civil Rights for Trans people including gender affirming care for minors are crucial.
When it comes to Gun Control I don't want to disarm anyone. However I do support a ban on semiautomatic weapons and bumpstocks. I believe in stronger background checks. And mentally ill people should not have access to firearms. I don't believe the right to bear arms is unlimited.
When it comes to illegal immigrants and the refugee crisis on our Southern border. We have to balance security and reasonable limits with our commitment to immigration and helping refugees. Thats not easy because deportation, detention, amnesty, and a sensible guest worker program are all part of the mix. That won't please the Progressive Left or MAGA. But thats the best way forward.
