I have a different outlook. Looking up into the sky, seeing the vastness, I find awe.
Just knowing that we may never find any sign of life beyond our own planet is profound.
...and I am part of that.
Time and distance so immense that even if there is other life, contact is impossible.
We are special even if only because of the isolation. We only have each other.
It doesn't matter what happens to me.
The people you are worried about are big frogs in a small pond.
They are lesser beings simply for the fact they crawl all over everyone else.
They can be the most important blob of protoplasm in the puddle.

Riding on the back of a motorcycle that is doing a wheelie, or excess of 100 mile per hour police chase in the passenger seat must have been exciting but then not really appreciated in later years and so no one wants to go sailing with you, etc.
Another theory is the IP36 gene deletion from the mRNA type of injections is turning people into more aggressive biters. What can happen is that you have a lot of situations where you could have died but may just wake up the next day think that maybe I should be trying to avoid these type of groupy group situations, etc.
