Afghanistan has been called the "good war" because we had a large host of nations supporting the mission (which is also the case with Iraq). Ukraine was simply a response by Russia to take territory because Putin didn't like how Ukrainian politics was heading. Did the Ukrainian people want closer ties with the West? Probably and I'm not going to be so naïve to say the West didn't play some sort of role in Ukrainian politics. Guess what, Russia did too. War was not merited in the case of Ukraine given its ultimate motive.
