I agree with Trump. Panama has violated the treaty.
The treaty says "Panama has permitted China to build, within Panama and on an island right next to the canal, an industrial/military/shipping complex.
- The Republic of Panama declares that the Canal, as an international transit waterway, shall be permanently neutral in accordance with the regime established in this Treaty. The same regime of neutrality shall apply to any other international waterway that may be built either partially or wholly in the territory of the Republic of Panama. "Canal" includes the existing Panama Canal, the entrances thereto and the territorial seas of the Republic of Panama adjacent thereto.
China is not a "neutral regime"
Panama violated the Treaty by allowing a non-neutral adversary of the United States, China, to operate portions of the canal and to construct a huge industrial/military complex on an island in the wake of the Canal.
- The United States of America and the Republic of Panama agree to maintain the regime of neutrality established in this Treaty, which shall be maintained in order that the Canal shall remain permanently neutral, notwithstanding the termination of any other treaties entered into by the two Contracting Parties.
The Canal's operations have been interfered with by China. And, China has been permitted to purchase and develop land within the Canal territory.
- if the Canal is closed, or its operations are interfered with, the United States of America and the Republic of Panama shall each independently have the right to take such steps as each deems necessary, in accordance with its constitutional processes, including the use of military force in the Republic of Panama, to reopen the Canal or restore the operations of the Canal, as the case may be.
Donald J. Trump is right again. The U.S. should demand the return of the Panama Canal and if Panama refuses, send in the military to take possession of the Canal and destroy all infrastructure China has been illegally allowed to construct within that territory. BLAST THE SLANT'S OFF THEIR EYES, TRUMP!!!
Everything you posted above is TRUE... but, it's also important to BUILD that an ADDITIONAL FACT: That the Panama Canal Zone, was a "consessi" to the United States of America ( Concession- a territory within a state over which another state has been granted jurisdiction)... The Panama Canal Concession was granted in 1903, for 5 miles on each side of the Panama canal (which the United States Built). and WHICH the United States relinquished to Panama, UNDER the limitations stipulated above !!
In other words, Panama DOES NOT have right to grant control of the "Panama Canal" to ANYONE, much less a clear ADVERSARY of the Uniterd States of America... and America has the RIGHT to TAKE BACK control if the Neutrality is compromised...
China has started the process of doing EXACTLY THAT, and Panama DOES NOT have the right to permit it to happenen WITHOUT the United States permission... WHICH IT DID, and WITHOUT the approval of the United States...
Manuel Noriega paid the price almost 40 years ago... and it looks like THIS Panama leader is going to make EXACTLY the same mistake !!!
