Really? Based on what? The authorities investigated the kid a year ago when the threat was made and found no probable cause to investigate further or take further action. So why is it a crime for the father to purchase a legal weapon as a gift for his son who can legally posses it?
I have no doubt you will do everything other that actually answer the questions.
