The teacher calls up and the parent answers. Teacher say, "Sir, your son/daughter is failing x, y, and z". The parent responds with "Yeah... so. What the **** you calling me for". Would you put the blame on the teacher, the parent, or the student.
In that situation, the blame falls on the student first (after all, they are the not showing up) then to the parents.  The teacher/school is not the fault.

We are not, by any stretch of the imagination, perfect parents.  But we always held our kids accountable...in everything including school.  When they were wrong, we stood firmly with the teacher.  When the teacher was wrong...and we had an incident where a teacher was violating school and district policy...we held the teacher accountable.

My philosophy of life being about the choices you make and dealing with the consequences of them applies equally to everyone.  But if you mess with my kids, I will make damn sure you deal with the consequences.  And that applies today despite them being adults with their own families.

BTW...**** with my grandkids and I just might take you out and ask questions later. Image
