Skans is correct. We are having a hell of a time hiring people. We produce and sell Quicklime and related products. It is fairly dirty, a bit dangerous, physical and (for most employees) in the elements. Since we are a 24-7 operation, all production employees work shifts of 12 hour days (2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off) and after each 9 day cycle they move from days to nights. We start people off at an hourly rate higher than any large employer in the area. In the last 4 months, we have "hired" 5 that worked less than a week and stop showing up. In just July, we had 12 people scheduled for interview who did not show up, and three more heard the work schedule and (literally) got up and walked out.
Apparently few young(er) people want to work.
