I am seeing more and more articles and television segments on the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike.  They are desperately trying to work up sympathy among the public. I have even seen multiple stories of members of those unions having to take "desperate measures" and take jobs.  Getting a real job is not a desperate measure...it's life. Fortunately, most people see right through the facade.

What those on strike won't tell you, is all of them sign personal contracts.  If the terms of those contracts are not acceptable, they shouldn't sign the damn thing.  It's not the studios fault their unions are weak as ****.  Some of the stories talk about the crap residuals they get and how some shows are recorded and pitched but never see the light of day so residuals never materialize.  Ok...your point?  You signed the contract for that work thinking/hoping it would turn into something big.  They call it gambling for a reason. If every member of those unions simply took the approach "I'm not signing that generic contract until these terms are changed", things would get better.  The honest truth is, it's an "every man for himself" industry and those that are getting successful (and those who have made it) are not going to stay out long to help others with low(er) talent.

Lots of people risk everything to "follow their dream".  The sad truth is most fail.  Sorry...welcome to the world of adulthood.
