That "black hole" gave the world Christianity. Does that buy it anything in your world? Did you know that Lebanon is in the Middle East? Syria? Iran? Two of those three have spawned EMPIRES - which means they gave that part of the world stability and safety for hundreds of years at a time. Egypt is in Northern Africa - but is widely considered to have been a Middle Eastern empire. In its heyday, it ruled large areas of the Middle East - as did the greeks, the romans - hell, even the brits, french and soviets.
Did you know that Sumer is in the Middle East? That's the cradle of civilization.
Y'know who has given the planet two world wars, and has fought internally for centuries? Is Europe a black hole, too?
I think you are repeating narratives that you heard and believed. The narratives are false. The Middle East has known centuries of peace and stability. It has known centuries of strife, as well. Show us the regions that haven't, Here - I'll give you a map:
