If you could get all of the so call renewable generators online at the same time (and that is a big IF due to maintenance, no wind, and no sun) they would produce around 17%-18% of the U.S. energy needs .... Presently the renewable energy companies earn far more from tax benefits and subsidies than they ever earn from the energy they produce. These companies could not be in business without the subsidies... These companies only exist because of the free money the U.S. gives them. So I would suggest that the technology isn't there yet to sustain renewable energy ... yet.
