What is really going on in Ukraine. For over 300 years Russia has wanted, desired, dreamed of having a port that doesn't freeze over in the Winter. The have always coveted a port that doesn't freeze and any land with good roads to and from Moscow to that port. (and they want another one). No one thinks Ukraine can win the war... and after 3 years, Europe nor the U.S. do not seem willing to put boots on the ground in Ukraine during this war.
Ukraine can't win the war by-themselves. It is now a war of attrition, and Gen. Grant during the Civil War, and Gen. Eisenhower during WWII have demonstrated how a war of Attrition works.
In the real world ...People need to realize that Ukraine has already lost about 20% of their country. One can take the high ground and say Ukraine doesn't want to give up 20% of their country. The reality is Russia/Putin has already taken it AND the U.S. and Europe allowed it to happen. You can also make the case that we shouldn't reward aggression ... but the entire world has already done so ... that ship has sailed. (We lost Viet Nam, and the world is still here, we lost Afghanistan and the world is still here ... I have a feeling losing Ukraine and the world will still be here).
I know you want me to care about Ukraine, but I really do not. They didn't hire my children and throw a boat load of money at them. I am not aware of my family tree being full of people from the Ukraine region. I am getting tired of Billions of $$$ going down a dry hole when I think U.S. Taxpayers' money might be better served in help the homeless Veterans. Look I want Ukraine to survive and get a Peace Deal, but if they don't ... other than grain prices being slightly higher ... I'm not sure I would notice any difference ...
In order for Ukraine to continue to exist they must get a peace treaty and fast. After the Peace Treaty is in place then quickly the European Troops Peace Keeping Troops need to go into Ukraine. If Ukraine doesn't want a Peace Deal by the U.S. ... then they need to find a Peace Deal some place ... fast.
Everyone needs to realize Russia/Putin will not negotiate away that warm water port and the lands with good roads to and from...
Today all European Nations are supporting Ukraine ... However, if a Peace Deal is finalized, they will come the U.S. to help out ...
