So, a "melt" is where a custom gunsmith or custom shop smooths and polishes all of the edges of a pistol so that it will not snag on anything when deployed. That is a super high polish, blued finish.
I originally saw this gun posted on a firearms forum some years ago and discussed it with its owner. I forget who did the work - I want to say Turnbull, but I think it was some lesser known shop.
(IIRC, the base gun itself is not a collector's piece, just a solid Officer's Model 1911)
Now, this particular melt-job is more of a BBQ gun (
gun meant only to be worn and shown off for special occasions) than a tool, but it is one of the slickest melt jobs I have seen, that I think is just stunning.
