Hemlock is a very poisonous plant. In fact, all parts of the plant are toxic. Hemlock is most poisonous during the early stages of growth in the spring, but it is dangerous at all stages of growth. The poisons in hemlock are so deadly that people have died after eating animals that had eaten hemlock parts.
Don't I know it!
We occasionally have it on our property, but rarely...mostly wild carrot, which a layman wouldn't be able to differentiate from the hemlock. There are subtle differences, but the one I look for is a "hairy" stem. Hemlock has a smooth stem. Wild carrots do not. They're both a pain though...very invasive.

Hey, I have mulberries, figs, apples, plumbs, pears, thornless blackberries, loganberries and boysenberries this year, so I'm a happy camper!

I axed the nursery if they had any chitterling, tripe or fatback trees, but alas, no luck.
