I had one, once. Imagine a Garand with a box magazine. It was heavy, and I paid a thousand and sold it for more, and spent the money.
In the day M-1 carbines were sort of popular, but they fired an odd ball low powered, almost a pistol round. I sold mine to a farmer to shoot stray dogs with, and he said it wasn’t good for that, they were too likely to make it home, and that caused a lot of hard feelings.
I own an AR-15. It is a rugged, accurate, reliable and almost unimaginably deadly weapon compared to anything else I’ve owned. No wonder the armies of the free world use the platform.
And while I don’t own a Glock type pistol the damned plastic things are the most efficient handgun in the works for people shooting. Not that you’d be proud to sit down and admire one, like a revolver or 1911.
I agree with your AR-15 findings.
But, as much as they aren't as accurate, I'd rather keep my Ruger Mini-14 than the AR-15 for reliability when cleaning it isn't an option.
