The very first use of "the wheel" would have been rolling logs placed under heavy loads like those Eqytian Pyramid blocks .

Did you know that very hard wood was used as propellor shaft bushings [pillar blocks] on the first prop driven ocean going ships...?
 
There is an African hard wood [memory fails now] that is probably the hardest in the world...probably close to soft aluminum...?
Sure you can use metal axis with wooden bushings. But wooden axis with wooden bushings? Any example?
