Those gas cars will last for a good twenty years after the last one is built. But nobody will want one. As they break down nobody will repair one.
But why you’ll pay a few hundred dollars to upgrade your electric service is these new EVs will be God’s gift to the power companies.
Each night while we sleep power usage drops to almost nothing. Power companies have excess capacity out their ***.
Home charging overnight might be half the cost of a public charger. Already my power company has a discount for off peak usage.
Time of use billing isn't anything new. If you have much industry in the area the electrical grid is busier than you think at night. I've never seen TOU billing available for residential though it's common in industry. I've never seen a meter that'll handle anything like TOU on a house.
It's going to take a lot more than a few hundred dollars to take care of the electric service issues especially in older homes. What about the millions of people that live in the city and park on the street or live in apartment buildings? And there is still the winter and power outages.
A large percentage of drivers need to have their vehicles ready for the morning when they park it at night..
