We had handguns along with the rifles and shotguns. My father and I both did a lot of hunting with handguns. But although every house I ever saw in my entire life, until I graduated, had a gun or two, none had three, none had handguns, and I never saw a gun safe until I was an adult. Old widows might keep a shotgun under the bed for self defense but the vast number of guns, were meant for having fun.
All of the mass murders, in the ghettos or at random or in schools or malls or churches, began when millions of people could buy a military style rifle or a high capacity pistol.
The only way this ends is a future Supreme Court repealing or gutting recent pro Second Amendment rulings.
It would not take much, to pass laws where a 42 year old transgender right wing MAGA fanatic who lived in a house with seven other people could not afford an AR15 or a Glock or wouldn’t wait for one.
My boss hunts deer every year with an AR of some flavor...chambered in 308 I think he said.
Lots of guys around here prefer them for coyotes.
When I was a kid we had a fair number of guns in the house but no gun safe. I had my own shotgun when I was 12.
Why didn't we shoot people? I was small bullied (at first) and fought all the time. But no guns and nobody died. What's different today?
I'm telling you the world is upside down and inside out and it's getting more bizzare every day. We haven't seen the worst yet.
