The point wasn't that YOU are illiterate. It is important to understand what the situation was. History is meaningless without context. Nation... Country is beside the point.
So do you agree with the basic facts about the initial interest of what became UF and the then leaders at the time. They wanted to develop and become prosperous and their leadership convinced a moderately wealthy American to bring equipment down there and build a railroad for a price. So nothing evil there.
