Well...without a doubt the quality of life in Germany under the nazis was quite high and people were very happy. The average French person even seemed to enjoy being occupied by the nazis. They had a huge approval rating among ordinary people.
But as you may know, Germany was destroyed by external forces. The 3 greatest empires on earth ganged up on Germany and managed to defeat it. Although it was close.
That was not the fault of hitler...who never wanted war with the uk or France or the US. He was certainly planning to acquire Ukraine from the start so war with the ussr was inevitable...but that is all..
the destruction of ww2 was not good for anyone involved. and I don't blame Hitler for that at all. He desperately attempted to make peace with the uk. His meetings with Churchill are still classified.
It's not surprising socialism appears to work in the beginning. Until it runs out of other people's money.
"Ideological differences based on beliefs about facts, causation, human nature, and the character and distribution of knowledge, are ultimately questions about different perceptions of the real world, leading to hypotheses which can be tested emperically." - Thomas Sowell
Socialism has been tested and its evidence measured. All tested hypotheses show the results have not met the predictions of those intellectuals who touted its virtues.
"Intellectuals have on issues ranging across the spectrum from housing policies to laws governing organ transplants sought to have decision-making discretion taken from those directly involved, who have personal stake, transferred to third parties who have neither, and who pay no price for being wrong."
"Intellectuals give people who have the handicap of poverty the further handicap of a sense of victimhood. Intellectuals tend to see poverty as a great moral problem to which they have the solution. The human race began in poverty. There is no mysterious explanation as to why some people are poor. The question is why have some people gotten prosperous and in particular why have some gotten prosperous to a greater degree than others.... Intellectuals have no interest in what creates wealth and what inhibits the creation of wealth. They are very concerned about the distribution of it, but they act as if wealth just exists SOMEHOW. It is like manna from heaven and it is only a question of how we split it up." -Thomas Sowell
