I'm not poopoo'ing the detestable practice of slavery. But it is important to get the record straight. As Americans we have an amazing tendency towards self deprecation. I have many conversations with European and others who constantly tell me, "The US is such an amazing and wonderful place. Virtually everything we now take for granted that is good in the world we owe to the US. Radio, film, cameras, television, phones, cell phones, every modern appliance, and even liberty, freedom and self government. No other nation has come close to the blood sacrifices in the cause of fighting for world freedom. The US feeds 70% of the worlds people. No nation is more generous. Yet when you listen to most Americans it is as if they think America is the worst country on Earth. Many Americans give zero credit and no leeway to their own country." This is perhaps a uniquely American condition. The ability and encouragement to redress the government for improvements. Discuss, or don't. I was talking to a white homeless guy telling me that he fought in Vietnam and was responsible for securing the safety of hundreds of Vietnamese during the communist takeover Hanoi. He seemed like a nice fellow, he looked to be in his seventies and wore a dress.
I've lived throughout the world over a long lifetime. Trust me, historically we are far from responsible for much of the evil in the world. In fact without the US it would be a far worse planet to live. And now for some strange reason we (or someone) is attempting to destroy our Republic and convert us to everything detestable.
