I remember ads for a quite small windmill (probably from Mother Earth News in the early 1970s), that rather than being a water pump was an air compressor. The air hose was rigged to a sealed well head and compressed the air inside the casing, pushing down on the water surface thereby forcing the water up the tubing and into a gravity tank above ground. I've looked for it several times since but never found anything like it. As I remember the company was called "Little Geysers" and might have been an Amish outfit. I think they also had an attachment for it they called "Posi-pond Pumper" that allowed it to pump out of a pond.
