I would like to add some background. Abe was a popular prime minister that served the longest term for PM in Japanese history. Of course, democracy in Japan is fairly new. The prime minister position in Japan commonly lasted for a year for about two decades. That was due to the "lost decade" that actually lasted longer. When a financial crisis hit Japan in 1991 Japan's economy slowed considerably. This was after the large bull run in the 1980s. Remember how we were all turning Japanese then? Abe pioneered Abenomics which ended the malaise in Japan and growth began again. Therefore, he will be sorely missed by the Japanese people for his legacy and long serving leadership.
