Well I do remember he said something to the tune of NATO being "braindead". I think there was a lot of fear that Russia would take advantage if Trump weakened the alliance like he said he would. Of course, questions like that are above my paygrade, I just know that there were fears about that with a second Trump term. There is also questions of whether Putin would have invaded Ukraine if Trump was in power. That kind of thing is why we have a CIA.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
