Well I assume that the regions of Eastern Ukraine have battle causalities. That's the ethnic Russian territory that Russia was trying to make part of the Russia proper landscape just like Georgia, Crimea, ect. Minsk was violated on both sides beginning in 2014 but trust me, Russians were killing Ukrainians too. Russia also started that conflict. You just find some Nazis affiliated with the Ukrainian military and add a little nationalism and you have a Russian propaganda cocktail.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
