While I respect Denzel and understand his reasoning, imagine if the opposite happened? Imagine a white actor, male or female who refused to kiss a black actor on stage. The person would be crucified for being racist. Is this a crazy double standard?
I think you have a valid point with this. Still, Hollywood doesn't really reflect on real life in the same way. If you were a white man in a conservative family in many circumstances you might be disowned by your family for dating a black woman. Real life is not really a true reflection of what we see in our popular media. Of course, people always debate the things they see on television. Add to that 24 hour politics and you lose track of real life. It is how they make a living, a nice one at that.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
