That is actually necessary for intelligence to exist. Some irrational purpose. A perfectly logical machine is FIRST going to ask itself why it should bother using energy to think about anything at all, and never have an answer. This is why sentient AI will never exist.
I'm a little confused. Purpose? How does that apply to intelligence?
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
