The Supreme Court is hearing arguments on affirmative action. Will it be the end of race based admissions? With a conservative Supreme Court and sour public opinion on the issue it might seem likely. Just a few thoughts. The lawsuit was brought by a legal organization representing Asian Americans. We all should know that Asian Americans outperform their other racial counterparts. Therefore, will there be an influx of people of East Asian decent if the policy is lifted? Also, this will be a legal decision so the law will have to be specified on how the Civil Rights Act should apply given that it is codified in American law. The likelihood of a complete ban on the practice is probably not possible but guidelines will probably change. What are proper guidelines? Social economic status?
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
