China is a country in decline. Zero Covid is turning into an unsustainable policy where there is a populous with no immunity to the virus and measures will have to either be carried on indefinitely or a massive outbreak is almost certain. Not only that, Xi refuses to administer better Westerns vaccines making the problem worse. Weak GDP growth is slowly breaking down the authoritarianism for progress bargain that has sustained China for so long. Finally, semiconductors are being withheld from China causing havoc for their military and industry.
Xi has also been instated for a third term and hopes to rule for life. This is the problem with autocrats. They have no accountability. Putin is another model of this and Trump does aspire to this model too. Leaders always have hits and misses to different people with different philosophies. It seems that leaders like Trump don't even have evaluation of their policies but replace them with issues and rhetoric that has nothing to do with governing. This does in no way take away from some of the real issues that Trump holds weight to. Only that the authoritarian model is a failure in leadership that should not be aspired to.
