I don't think it is so much his record as it is the method to the madness and the fallout of that madness. From what I hear the White House was a place of constant chaos. Trump also moved away from protocol and became dangerous as the head of the United States government. If not for the wiser heads that prevailed he would have done things like broken up NATO and bombed Mexico, things he actually considered as president. I personally feel safer at night knowing that a competent, level head is running the United States government right now.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
