The "media" I'm referring to is the reporting of actual news and not the op-ed/entertainment that make up 95% of the media these days.
Reporting the news should be as void of opinion and slant as possible, and more of presenting the facts as known at the time.
We don't have that anymore.
The nightly "news" is more op-ed than anything these days, and people are souring on being told what to think by supposed "respected and trusted" reporters anymore. Especially when their opinions turn out be garbage.
It's not news anymore. It's commentary.
I assume you can really tailor your taste to devour news that fits your political agenda. I really have no problem with people who are conservative follow conservative viewpoints. They are just that however. They are viewpoints. I personally get most of my news from magazines that are pretty coastal but I find them a lot more inquisitive then some of the right wing sources out there. I guess the real problem is that some sources say they aren't bias when they actually are since eliminating bias is an incredibly difficult thing to do.
Television was extremely careful in two instances that swigged elections. First was the very subtle tip towards Reagan in 1980. That was a game of inches for the big networks that controlled information. The second of course was the Clinton email scandal that probably tipped the election for Donald Trump in 2016. Hillary was a much weaker candidate than expected but many still blame her loss on Comey.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
