Now, to get PRODUCTS from oil, it is basically "distilled" to produce various compounds we use everyday to make all these "acceptable products" you claim you want. So if you advocate NOT using petroleum products for energy, what do you plan to do with the various components from refining oil into those "Other Products" you think is fine to use?? You know, the diesel fuel, gasoline, heating oil, etc.
I'm not going into the specifics of the science of hydrocarbons. I'm just suggesting that there should be global effort to restrict the use of burning hydrocarbons as an energy source. Smog and the air quality in places like China and India speak for themselves.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.
