Afghans are also very fixated with their religious identity and culture. America poured money into that country for two decades and lost in a matter of weeks. Apparently the Taliban was better than a functioning government for most Afghans. Ukraine is flat, Afghanistan is very mountainous.
Afghans are largely illiterate, Ukrainians are literate.
Ukraine is a different story.
