Just to add, Remember the original was released in the 1970s when anti fascism was peaking on the American left and broader political spectrum in America. Alderaan was actually more of a allusion to the horrors of the Holocaust and the ethos of the Nazis in general were represented in the Empire. That has tended to be twisted lately as the Empire being the representative force of the American Empire and that is probably why you agree with the Empire as being the "good" guy in the story. Personally, I like the original message of Episode IV where the Republic is the ultimate good along with Democracy.
