I've known that piece of luggage by that term for my entire career, and I've known a few guys who have carried it and THEY referred to it using that term as well.

You are as full of **** as a Christmas Turkey.  Maybe an I say MAYBE you knew one but (as REG SM) knowing a few PRESIDENTAL AIDES is like getting hit by lighting when going into cash in the winningest lotto of all times.  They were all attached to MDW...which you didn't even knew what that meant. 

Point 2: We must have been in a different military.  When involved in something strategically that important at such a high level (blowing up the world)....Officers do not use use slang.  Codewords yes, slang no !  If I went to pick up a 0-4 = I had to say I am your transportation sir / mamam.  If I said driver...I could be standing tall.

BTW: When we had classes in the Army we talked about tactical nuclear devices. We left thinking about blowing up the world to the 0-8 +

This errand boy went to the Pentagon 5 days a week.
