He told me the woman looked up the value of the silver round. She was disappointed that it was worth less than $10 and pretty much hated him for "scamming" her and making her feel cheap. Honestly, I never got the real story on whether there ever was actually a 2nd date. According to John, this was kind of routine for him and only one woman ever had the nerve to call him out on it. He couldn't stop laughing about it; I thought it was pretty outrageous - not something I would have ever considered doing in a million years.
John was tall, thin, worked out but not exactly buff (I knew him from the gym). He felt that he was physically unattractive, and I guess early-on realized that he could use the illusion of wealth to get women to have sex with him. That was his game, or "program" as he liked to call it.
