Let's just say that I could see other dads handling things differently than this one. I seem to remember reading a crime novel (
Stephen King? J.K Rolling?) where something similar to this situation took place. The Dad, in that story, changed his name and went into hiding until the criminal who killed his daughter was released from prison. He didn't go on TV crying about what happened or raised a stink about the guy getting paroled early. He just figured out where the parolee was likely to go after he was released and then eliminated him. He was disguised and nothing but motive could be traced back to the Dad. The key thing was that the Dad had already lawyered up, and without a confession or the Dad talking about what he did, the cops could never pin the murder on him. I can't recall exactly how it ended - it's been some time since I read this;
