I ate freshwater fish as a kid - had to clean and eat what I caught. Until, one day, I owned up to the fact that I just didn't like the way it smelled or tasted. I also can't stand the smell of fish cooking in a house or even a restaurant. Why, you ask? I have no idea. BUT? fresh water fish- like togue-smelts- from the lakes? yuk!
Personally, I think lobster, crab and especially shrimp look like variations of roaches and other bugs. YUCK! With shrimp, you can even see their poop sack inside of them if you look close enough. Freaking nasty water-bugs is what they are. I have tried crab - tastes rather bland and rubbery to me. I have tried squid - simply repulsive. I have even tried eating a steamed oyster once - tasted like eating pure, hot fish-snot.
It's not that I won't ever eat certain kinds of non-fishy tasting fish. I can eat it if I have to, but I just don't enjoy a damn thing about it!
