My pistol is right next to me.
The AR 15 is next to my wife.
The shotgun is leaning against the wall by the bed.
The dog doesn't own a gun.
- Pistol is easy to store where I can access it
- Pistol is easier for me to use to clear rooms
- Pistol will do everything a rifle will do to an intruder at distances of less than 30 feet
- I have nice things, things I don't want destroyed with buckshot going everywhere
- Shotgun is heavy and, like a rifle, not easy to store.
- I trust my semi-auto pistol more than I trust a semi-auto shotgun. I have seen some very fine semi-auto shotguns jam because 12 ga ammo pretty much sucks. As for pump-action shotguns - not into them at all! Noisy and cumbersome.
