When a company lays off people, the reverse happens. So they announce it loudly.They have no legal obligation to lay off as many as they announced if it turns out that they cannot get the work done with so few workers.They can always rehire.When large layoffs are announced,there will be employees that will quit and seek more stable jobs elsewhere.

Yes, it's SO obvious to me now. Those massive job fairs that have dozens of companies at them, are done in secrecy so the CEO's don't find out.....and when people are laid off by an email or text, will have that info shared by Google, Tic Toc, Instagram, and Twitter that same afternoon
