Seems like Ukraines biggest push to join NATO was AFTER Russia TOOK Crimea.
- 2008: Ukraine formally requested the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP).
- 2010: The process stalled under President Yanukovich, who did not support a NATO relationship.
- 2014-present: Following the Revolution of Dignity and the Russian annexation of Crimea, Ukraine has re-emphasized its NATO aspirations.
- 2017: Ukraine amended its constitution to include NATO membership as a strategic goal.
- 2022: Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy formally requested an accelerated accession to NATO.
