If winning is restoring all land occupied by Russia after Feb.24, 2022 Ukraine is going to lose. Attrition is going to deplete Ukraine. Putin will mobilize more men than Ukraine can possibly handle. Putin is doing some ethnic cleansing as he is conscripting from areas all over Russia. Prisons are being emptied of criminals who will sign a contract with the army. These men are given little to no training and sent to the line. Russia has been digging in since the fall of Kherson. Fortifications, trenches, and hundreds of thousands of mines have been laid. The Ukraine counter offensive is advancing at a very slow pace because of defensive obstacles. Russians keep withdrawing to the next defensive line as they wear down a finite number of Ukrainian soldiers. The slow Ukrainian advance is to save as many men as possible. The Ukrainian strategy at the moment is to destroy Russian logistics. Russian supplies are being stopped to a certain degree but Putin has an almost endless supply of ammo and equipment. I understand that T-62s and other ancient equipment is being sent to the front. That will not matter in the long run. Ukraine will be worn out before Putin is. Russia will pay a heavy price for their adventure but Putin does not care.
