Before my time, but my understanding is Reagan was a big spender.
This article is written by someone in the know, but I don't know her politics. Take it for what it's worth, but Reagan scores horribly on deficit spending.
Could be a case of Reagan not being as great as the old timers like to glow about. Maybe Carter wasn't as bad as a lot of people say. Seem we used to be a nation of savers. When did that change.
Reagan appears to be the beneficiary of mythology. His gain was Carter's loss.
But don't get me wrong. Reagan did some great things, and Carter screwed up a lot of things. I'd say Carter was a precursor and laid the groundwork for a lot woke ****.
