Setting a stage for the "Stolen Election" is what Trump did in August, 2020, more than three months before the election when he made a television speech in which he declared that Biden could not win a fair election; Biden could only win by fraud. At the time the speech seemed like Trump merely blowing off steam, that he couldn't possibly be serious, since Biden, not he, was leading in the polls, all the polls. In Vegas, the clear betting favorite also was Biden. Certainly the polls could be wrong but if anyone seemed then to have little chance of winning a fair election it wasn't Joe Biden, who continued his lead right up to election day. Shortly before the election Trump was advised again by his own campaign people that the outlook was grim.
But in that August speech Trump had known exactly what he was doing, and he was ready.
