Best case scenario is nothing comes of this. Legal scholars have said the President has absolute classification authority, they are a classification source. He relocated these items while still President. The government has an avenue to negotiate for their return through the presidential records act. An act with no criminal or civil penalties for violating. I hope democrats don't arrest Trump, it will be a final step on our road to becoming a failed state banana republic.
Legal scholars have said there is a process for declassification by a President. Part of the process is not keeping
secret the declassified secrets. Trump never said a word until the Justice Department raised a stink. Also his authority to declassify documents in the nuclear weapons category is a horse of a different color. But classification aside, the documents are government property not Trump property. Since he lied to the JD that all documents had been returned when he still had many thousands, including documents concerning nuclear weapons capability of foreign nations that are never shared beyond a small number of authorized persons,
it can be assumed he intended to keep them, and treat them as his personal property which would mean he was free to sell them. The guy belongs in prison.
