NOBODY needed to "invest" ANYTHING for Musk to do what he did! It didn't cost him or any potential advertiser a dime!
He used his somewhat unique ability to promote his company to BILLIONS of people FOR FREE, WITHOUT SPENDING A DIME ON ADVERTISING!
All he had to do was release a PR statement that appeared to give people a voice in how he planned to run the new company, regardless of whether or not he actually intended to follow the outcome of his customer's "vote", even though he and everyone else knew what the outcome would be, AND without any requirement that he had to ever release the TRUE result of the vote! No laws say he was obligated to do anything differently either. This was NOT the same as a government-run election!
