 I do NOT misrepresent the part of the country that I live in.  You were in the south.  I was not.  I was in new England where there was no Jim Crow except for night clubs and various social events where blacks wanted to stick together.   There were blacks in my school.   But remember too that in those times it was about much more than white on black.  The Irish, the Italians, the Germans and others, while all being white, tended to mistrust each other.  That the blacks had the same problems should not have surprised anyone.

Once, in 1955, while traveling our train made an overnight stop in Memphis.  My parents decided to go the the local Sears and Robuck store.  I noted that there were separate water fountains, "colored" and "white" they were labeled.  This was my only experience with what you call Jim Crow.  So... you see?  I do not misrepresent because I wrote about my part of the coutnry, not yours.   One can only write from experience.
