Short version... A couple of young boys were crossing my property (and the little ol' lady adjacent).
This happened repeatedly so I stopped them one day and asked them nicely to stop or at least be as unintrusive as possible.
They were nice and slowed the trespassing (or became less noticeable).
Years later, this big football fullback-sized guy came to my door.
His snowmobile was parked at the end of my drive. 200 feet away.
He politely asked if he could blow through the edge of my property to get back to his dad's house.
Yes, same guy who remembered I was nice about this stuff years ago.
I was amazed. And I said "yes", of course.
Later I thought "Why am I amazed at this? It's merely civil behavior."
Because it's so damned rare, I guess. Used to be fairly common.
Now the trends are to be a selfish prick first. But there are still nice people out there.
