The reserve is a couple of salt caverns and a series of underground salt domes. The latter are made by drilling into an existing salt cavern and "mining" it with water until you have the desired volume.

The question remains -
What is the sense of pumping it from one domestic hole to store it in another? There is no urgency to do so now...
