You don't have legal proceedings made up of a courtroom filled with people who want to see the defendant hanged before the first word has been spoken - for good reason. 'We called witnesses' is not a defence - no one would accept the outcome as valid, if everything the court wanted magically turned out to be true. And even if it didn't, it still wouldn't be accepted
